Amy Warntz inspiration has struck again! Her recent post about a treasured photo reminded me of an incident that happened at my house, not too long ago. The girls were home on break. My youngest daughter was looking through a stack of old photos that she’d discovered somewhere. “Oh, look!” she exclaimed, holding up the picture for her sister to see.

Then she continued, “This one’s perfect! Dad’s still talking…”She paused and laughed, “… and Mom’s reachin’ for the wine!”

I’m not sure if this translates well without knowing us, but it still makes me laugh.

I was just thinking the other day that my kids won’t have “old photos” to browse through. They’re all “in the cloud” or some such. Your daughter’s comment is priceless.

There are some real drawbacks to digital photos, aren’t there? Of course, they also won’t have unsorted boxes of photos sitting in a dark corner in a closet!

True, but I wonder if they will browse them with the same nostalgia. Nowadays any photo that isn’t perfect is deleted. Some of my best pictures are those where one of the kids is “acting up” (usually it’s me, maybe that’s why I like them).

She’s certainly layered some more meaning into that photo for me. It’s not a great picture of either of us, so I’m not even sure why I’d kept it. At some point it probably would have been tossed, but now, it’s a keeper!
