A Few More Haiku

Sharing a few here

Thanks again to Mary Lee Hahn for #haikuforhealing. It’s been a fun (and sane) part of my December. Make sure to stop by and visit this week’s Poetry Friday Roundup at Buffy Silverman’s blog, Buffy’s Blog. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season with plenty of time to enjoy family, friends, and writing!

  4. Lovely haiku and photos, Molly! I especially love your waning moon photo (and I hope the cat slunk away without any feathers!)

After I wrote the cat haiku, I realized it was ambiguous but decided to keep it that way. In my world though, the cat slunk away disappointed. Chalk one up for the birds!

Even those first words create a haiku with great feeling, Molly. I love the moon peeking through the trees.

All the teachers know just what you’re talking about with the insanity. I love your haiku. Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com

  9. Hear! hear! to the hectic last few weeks. It’s embarrassing when my brain drops an important thought or errand or name. But, I just have to try to keep going. The #haikuforhealing has really helped. I love what Cathering says about shifting into low gear. Now that winter break is here for me I can try….but it will fly by so fast. Cheers to you this holiday break. I wish you much peace and joy.

  10. These are lovely–and such a moment of peace in these hectic days. I’ve enjoyed both reading and writing them this month. I wish you peace and joy–and some rest, too.

  11. Both of these haikus are enchanting. I love the playfulness of “peek-a-boos through dark branches,” and the “crimson perfection” in your berry haiku. The photos are magical, thanks Molly!

  15. Your haiku and photos are wonderful, Molly. I love the berries “encapsulated in ice” and the moon playing “tag with the dawn.” Happy holidays to you and your family!

I hope by now you are enjoying some calm and some relaxation. That last week of school before the break is crazy, indeed! I love your haiku/photo pairings! That woodpecker photo today…WOW!

  19. Hi, Molly– I love the “single jingle” one especially. It is indeed calming to slow down and look closely at one little thing, isn’t it? Wishing you merry and bright!

  20. […] Here’s another photo that stuck with me and also highlights the link between my photography and writing habits. This ladybug obligingly posed on a plant in my bathroom. I love the simple lines and colors in this picture. It inspired me to check out ladybugs and write about them (here). Recently I’ve been adding words to my photos to create haigas (haikus with accompanying images). That’s been great fun! (If you’re interested, you can check out an earlier blog post here) […]
