Snow Day

Storm talk
take stock
…snow day?

Big debate
4 or 8?
Snow day?

Grey leaden sky
fat snowflakes fly
Hey, weather guy!
Snow day?

Cold winds blowing
White drifts growing
Still not knowing…
Snow day?

Hope clings…
Phone rings
My heart sings
SNOW DAY!

  1. Snow days are gifts to teachers, not to be wasted by thinking that they add more school days in June. Carpe diem and carpe snowem.

Yes, well I remember the snow days of my youth! Having lived in Florida for the past 20 years, I don’t miss the northern gloom. However, I do miss the beautiful snow

Enjoy the gift of your snow day! We had more ice than snow this time around. And now that I’ve left teaching, I don’t get as many snow days off, but at least my new job will allow me to work from home if the roads are bad. Even so, I still get excited at the prospect of snow.

  7. It’s been years since my kiddos were in school, and even more years that I was in school, and yet I still feel that excitement and anticipation of a snow day (which you’ve captured in your poem!)
