March 2022 SOLC–Day 31
A huge thank you to Two Writing Teachers for all that they do to create an amazing community of writers and a safe, welcoming space to write, learn, share and grow.

In the vase
on the table
Saturday’s optimism
has unfurled
into delicate showers
of petalled gold

And so this challenge comes to an end
like bare branches
watered and warmed
ideas gathered
cultivated into posts
A wordy bouquet

This is a perfect poem to end this challenge.

Thanks! I think this was the first time I remembered to try forcing the forsythia and it was such fun to watch the bare branches transform. Ripe for metaphor, too!

mmm… “delicate showers/ of petalled gold.” I’ll remember that line, I think. Beautiful

Thanks! Forsythia are such a welcome sight after a long winter. I was glad that I remembered to try forcing them this year and their full blossoming yesterday was serendipitous!

A beautiful poem…you are ready for the April Poetry Writing! 🙂

I appreciate the optimism! Do you have plans for NPM? I can never seem to manage another month-long commitment after the SOLC.

I can see it being hard just after SOL. I just have the hardest time writing poetry, but I’m encouraged to give it a try this year. Is it like SOL where you post your blog link or do you just write on your blog?

Sorry I missed responding earlier. I’d really encourage you to try Poetry Friday. It’s another wonderful writing community. You do share your blog link just like at SOL. Here’s a link that gives you a more thorough explanation: https://www.nowaterriver.com/what-is-poetry-friday/

What a beautiful poem. And to choose forsythia as the flower – it’s so fitting. these flowers always signal optimism and joy – two things that get restored for me throughout the month of March. Thank you for this post!

Thanks! It’s such a delight to see the world slowly, slowly greening and hopefully the forsythia outside will soon be blooming, too! We’ve turned a corner, for sure!

So beautiful! I love the line “Saturday’s optimism”, and love, too, the analogy of slicing to “bare branches/watered and warmed” –so true. I’m so glad I happened upon your poem!

Thanks. I’m so glad you mentioned those specific lines, because I considered removing them. Happy spring!

This is great. I love the forced flowers in the picture, and I love that as an image for writing. This line: “like bare branches
watered and warmed”. That is very much like the March process. I’ve really enjoyed reading your posts over these 4+ weeks. I hope you’re feeling better. See you on Tuesdays?

I’m definitely on the upswing–like the weather 🙂 I’m always amazed by how challenging weekly Tuesday writing seems after I’ve just written every day for a month! lol I’ll be seeing you there, though, just maybe not every week. Thanks for your visits/comments this month. I’ve really appreciated them.

Thanks, Leigh Anne! I hope you’re glad you decided to participate. I know I’m glad you did. I never did make it to your party, but I loved knowing I could always pop in if my schedule allowed. Thanks for that!

What a lovely poem to end with, expresses where we are at and how far we’ve come, so wonderfully. Words are like a bouquet of flowers that’s for sure, love the comparison!

I typically forget to try to force the forsythia and this year the timing was perfect 🙂

Molly, would you like me to add your poem and image to my Poetryliscious Gallery for NPM22? I added one of your #winterinspring photos at the padlet https://padlet.com/cvarsalona/q1uymnafyupx3w8c
