I’ve been trying to fashion small poems lately. To root through the ashes and find small sparks, then breathe on them gently like kindling, hoping to ignite a flame, to create a little light. I like to write Wordle poems sometimes, but one day this past week my guesses wrote a very succinct poem without any tinkering from me:
That wasn’t quite what I was going for, but who am I to reject a poem when it’s staring me in the face?
Here are a few other poems from this week:
fire warm at my back
coffee in hand
gold on the horizon

jays bombard the feeder
the view fractures, shifts, renews

All of your haiku capture a moment of peace and leave me wanting more. See you real soon!

BEING AGING GOING
That’s all we can hope for, many days. If we manage any more than that, we’ve saved the world a little.
And I commend your bold opening word choice, BEING. It’s risky, uncommon, faithful.
The rest of your poems are very delicious gravy.

I really like that “kaleidoscope blues,” Molly, and the image of fire at your back and gold on the horizon. I can picture it so well. Your opening paragraph is also a poem! xo

Molly, I miss Maine. It is definitely a state and NP that I would return to. Your images as are your poetry are beautiful. The Wordle poem is especially apropos for me at this time. Thanks for sharing.

A dollop of joy. I like the visual “root through the ashes” describing the last month. South Church (UU) opened their sanctuary the day after the election so many of us would not feel alone.
