It’s February break and we headed south in search of a little warmth…
It hasn’t turned out exactly as we’d hoped.
Unfortunately, we brought Maine temperatures with us, along with a gusty wind. Brrrrrrr!!!! You’d think we’d be used to it! Regardless of the cold (thank goodness for layers!!!), we’re having a lovely time. And luckily, after thick clouds and misty rain on Wednesday, yesterday was sunny, so we had that going for us!
With the temperatures so low, it’s been odd to see green leaves and blooms. The majestic oaks, with their twisted limbs and long winter shadows, dazzle me. I have been feeling a little bad for the magnolias though. They look so cold!

This week’s Poetry Friday is hosted by Laura Purdie Salas, and she’s sharing all sorts of exciting book news. I’m still traveling, but hope to get around to read and comment over the next few days.
PS A highlight of the trip–hanging out with Margaret and Jeff Simon and parade watching!

How cool that you got to see Margaret. But brrr so cold for New Orleans.

This post makes me so happy! I’m not happy about the cold–that’s no fun. But layers for the win! I’m just smiling so wide at seeing you in person with Margaret. Hooray! I think that “scud” might be a favorite word of mine.

It’s been quite a change for many this past week! I bet those magnolias are wondering what in the world??? I am still glad you wrote for us, Molly, & showed the fun you’re having, with Margaret & Jeff, too!

Noooooo, not 31 degrees in New Orleans! But still, you got away, you brought layers, you hung out with Margaret, and you wrote a poem. Time well spent! 🙂 ❤️

Molly, how exciting that you get to meet up with Margaret and her husband. It’s too bad that the cold weather traveled with you but you did get to see beautiful sights. Your haiku and photo are lovely. I bet those blossoms are in shock because they are not used to winters up north.

Brrrrr the cold feels especially cold in places that aren’t used to it – where I live, our homes aren’t all that well insulated, so when we get a rare cold snap, boy, do we feel it!!
