After practically sleepwalking through yesterday (sleepless from 2 am on), I woke feeling refreshed and upbeat this morning. Woot! It’s Friday!!!

It’s been a doozy of a week! Several times I’ve almost used the 6 word memoir format for my posts–something along the lines of :

Conference week. Moving slower every day.

(Or some other grim alternatives that came to mind, but I hesitated to share here due to concerns with who might be reading my blog and what might skirt into the personally identifiable information zone. It’s such a balancing act of creation and curation, isn’t it?)

But it’s Friday now, and no matter that next week is already looking equally challenging (rescheduled conferences from our snowstorm last Monday, several after school meetings, etc.), I’m excited for the weekend. I’m yearning to get down to the marsh or the beach for some sunrise wandering, photography and general rejuvenation. The past few weekends it’s either been dicey driving (ice, snow), free-falling feels-like temps with howling winds, or just an overwhelming volume of work. I am so ready to get out there!

I pick up my phone and see the headline, “Accumulating snow in Maine Saturday with more wintry mix behind it…”

What!? Oh, no! My spirits fall. I try to rally. Well, maybe the snow will arrive later in the day and I can still get out in the morning?

I click on the link and scan the forecast rapidly. My spirits sink. Ugh…

Clearly I need to recalibrate my weekend plans. Sigh…

Well, at least it’s still Friday!

Ugh that weather!!!!! It’s like such a slap in the face after this grueling conference week! Maybe it’s the universe telling you to rest and sleep instead. Also as you know, balancing curation and creation has been such a theme for me this particular year. I love the way you put that.

  2. Do you want to come spend the weekend in Connecticut? We have some nice sunrises? Your northern winter is LONG! I hope that next weekend, you’re writing about a crocus-nurturing sunny Saturday!

For some reason, this year it seems especially long. Maybe it’s because everything else is so stressful? PS I might just show up on your doorstep one day!

I did make cookies on Sunday 🙂 All in all, I ended up enjoying a quiet weekend–lots of rest and relaxation. Now you have me hankering for apple crisp…hot with vanilla ice cream! YUM!

  6. We are coming home tomorrow. Anything you can do about the weather? That’s okay. Take care of the women and children first. We have felt your pain from afar.

Oh no! I’m so sorry that your weekend will be snowy and cold right when you need sunshine and clear skies! But I know you will still find something wonderful to photograph and a worthy way to enjoy the weekend. Can’t wait to hear what you come up with!

  9. I’m in Maine, too, and I’m watching the snow fall outside my window as I type this. In a few minutes I’ll go out to shovel. All month I told my husband, “It’s okay–when March comes in like a lion it goes out like a lamb,” and all week he’s been grumbling about March not living up to that promise. Your post really captured all my feelings about the last couple of weeks as well!
