When I looked at this latest photo from Laura Shovan’s FOPP, I couldn’t look away from that jaunty sun. Having recently returned to Maine from a vacation in Puerto Rico, I’m missing the caress of tropical sun on my skin.
Arriving in Puerto Rico
We tipped our faces to the sun
heads like bobbing buds
on slender neck stalks.
Warmth seeped into our bones,
flushing our cheeks
petal-pink.
Each morning
we moved into daylight
instinctively leaning
toward the sun.
Phototropic
in the tropics.
What a great poem to remember your vacation!
