I just spent some time in Tennessee enjoying family and unfamiliar scenery. One afternoon I spent some time sitting under a crepe myrtle tree, lingering in the moment, looking down over the lake and into the distant fading ridges of mountains. Ahhhhhhh….
Sitting Under the Crepe Myrtle
Sheltered from midday sun
surrounded by the hum of bees
the rustle of leaves
the heartbeat of the tree
Blossom sweet serenity

Ah, sweet serenity. I’ll take some of that, please!

Sounds like bliss!
I enjoyed the hum of bees around my head this morning, but I was weeding! Not quite as much bliss!!!

I was blown away by how many pollinators were hard at work in the crepe myrtle blossoms. And weeding has its own rewards 🙂

Molly, the poem and photos would make a great addition to my Poetryliscious padlet at https://padlet.com/cvarsalona/q1uymnafyupx3w8c if you are interested in showcasing your work. Let me know.

That would be great! Do you need me to put the document and photo together?

Sounds like a beautiful moment with a stately companion (and then back into the hubbub).

Thanks, Elisabeth. It’s not often that I linger under a tree, and this reminded me how rewarding that can be.

About to embark on some travel myself. Sweet serenity would be just the ticket. Hope your travels were as satisfying as your compact comforting poem. http://dave-homeschooldad.blogspot.com/2022/07/poetry-friday-problem-of-good.html

Our travels were rather turbulent, so this pocket of serenity was quite welcome. Safe travels!

I was at an amazing botanical garden yesterday and the milkweed scent was heavenly! I had some volunteer milkweed pop up in my perennial garden this year, too. Yay!
