I never know what will catch my eye when I’m out and about, but overall, I’m much more inclined to take photographs of natural images. In fact, I typically go out of my way to avoid people, buildings, and/or man-made objects. I’ve been known to gripe about people ruining my photo opportunities. (This does not always endear me to friends and family! lol ) There are always exceptions though.
On a long ago drive, this bike and fence caught my eye, and I pulled over to take a picture. (How I’ve managed not to get into multiple car accidents while gawking out the window at birds, scenery, etc, is beyond me!) Recently, when I was rummaging through photos, to curate my gallery show, I revisited this picture. I still loved the lines and the weathered look of the fence and the bike and the way they complemented each other. Looking at the photo again inspired me to write a poem to go along with it, and ultimately, I opted to include both in the show. The show comes down this afternoon, so I’m highlighting this pairing to mark the occasion.

I recognized that photo immediately. Congrats on the long-running exhibition. Where do all the photos go?

Thanks! Some of the photos go to new homes and others will get tucked away until I decide on my next steps.

Sweet…bike leaning in. Bikes lean for all kinds of reasons; turning, gathering speed, slowing a moment, rebalancing. But, a bike leaning in to gossip, now that’s a moment! I love that fence and the wisdom it’s gained. Beautiful pairing, Molly. Congrats on your show.

Thanks, Linda! It was a different topic for me, poetically and photographically!

Molly, I love the image and the poem. Looks like the fence has some stories to ell as well 🙂 Your poem was a perfect snapshop of the bike. “Wind blown laughter” and the bike “leaning in” were great word choices. Congrats on your show!

Thanks! It would be fun to consider what the fence adds to the conversation…

I love “wind blown trails of laughter” which adds a personality and sound to the poem. You really have wonderful vision when it comes to photography. I’m sorry your show is coming down. I hope it was a rewarding experience even with all the work it required to do.

Molly, an exhibit filled with your work would be something I wish I could have seen. I ask you if your would add your photo and poem above to my Spring Seeds Grace April Padlet Gallery. I would be delighted to showcase this image poem combo or any other work that you could add to the Padlet at https://padlet.com/cvarsalona/spring-seeds-grace-april-iqgitngvyfqwch7b. Congratulations on your success.

Wait, Molly, what? Gallery show? I must have missed something! When and where? I so like the idea of a bike “leaning in” and sharing stories.

I had a gallery show of my photography with some accompanying poetry this month. 🙂 It was in my small town of Bowdoinham, Maine. I think I just briefly referenced it in my last (also late!) PF post, so it was easily missed!

Your e-mail made my day! How cool is it that we have a mutual connection and that she actually came to the show last weekend!?! Crazy small world!

Just LOVE that title, Molly. So perfect! I do the same on my morning hikes with my dog. Camera in tow, I stop for moss, for light; this morning it was antelope bitterbrush, its soft, shy yellow flower. Maybe a poem will come later.
